Hobo with a Shotgun (Review)

By simply looking at the poster, you can tell this is not your regular vigilante flick. Filled with violence, nudity, over the top obnoxious language and behaviour. Hobo with a Shotgun is an exploitation film that despite the conveniently violent dialogue, still manages to deliver a message. Set in neighborhood where violence and crime run free, Rutger Hauer plays a bum that has had enough. Couldn't help but to compare it to the crime filled streets of the past Robocop films. The blood and gore is plenty and even the main characters are put through scenes that will make you cringe. I am a bit bias to violent, in your face films such as this one but if your into to sick and crazy plots...It will not disappoint. The scenes keep you wondering as to how much more violence and gore they can squeeze into an hour and half flick (Plenty of it) Filmed on location in Canada, the look of the movie also adds to the feel, being shot in a gritty Technicolor view that does the job as far as creating that cheap grind house atmosphere. The score is also perfectly incorporated into the both the mood and pace of the film. You can catch the unrated trailer here and make sure you watch this one uncensored if not...don't bother. Let street justice prevail!
