Amazon Cloud Player, Your music Anywhere!

Amazon just yesterday unveiled it's brand new cloud music player, that allows you to upload your music to their cloud servers then allowing you to stream your music to any web browser or Android device. You can get 5gb of storage for free if you have an Amazon account and options to upgrade for a low monthly fee. This is a bold move on Amazon's part, even with recent news of Apple to supply such service in the future. The music streaming seems to not work on IOS devices but I'm sure a work around will be found. Despite 5gb being somewhat small, it can simply add to your already large music storage capacity...oh did I mention it's FREE? Pick up this account even if you do not stream music, I'm sure you will find a use for it in the future. Be sure to check out Amazon's Android App store, of which they offer one paid app for FREE everyday. Click here for the Cloudplayer page.

AT&T Planning to Purchase T-Mobile USA

AT&T announced Sunday, it's plans to purchase T-Mobile USA for $39 Billion dollars. Confirmation is still ahaead as far this being reality. The merger would have to be approved by the FCC in order to go forth. The whole idea to me sounds like AT&T trying to increase it's 4g footprint in order to combat Verizon's 4g LTE network. If approved this would leave two main wireless competitors in the USA, Verizon and AT&T...I guess you can go ahead and add Sprint to that as well. But it is evident that the two major players here are AT&T and Verizon. Deutsche Telekom who owns T-Mobile USA thinks the deal may not go through, so in the near future we will see if this plans out. More information on the deal can be found at the source article in the NY Times.

Ipad 2 for Verizon & AT&T

For those whom have been waiting the Ipad 2 has arrived and will be available for purchase on March 11. It has a A5 Dual Core Processor, Front and rear(HD) cameras, also is thinner than the Iphone 4. For full specs visit Apple's site here. The pricing is the same as the previous Ipad. It will be available in both white and black.

Compared to the older model the new Ipad 2 is lighter, faster, capable of shooting 720p video and Facetime calls. Though it is obvious, that the older model will have a reduced price of $399 for the wifi version, which will surely be a deal for those who don't care about the new specs.

Intel's Light Peak details coming Feb 24th!

Intel will be revealing the final details to it's Light Peak technology. Which is supposed to be a feature in the upcoming revision to Apple's Macbook Pro line of notebooks. Light Peak features the capability to transfer data at 10 gigabits per second to external devices. Adding even more speed then that of USB 3.0. Updated info about this all in one connection will be posted after the event.

New Macbook Pros coming Thursday 24th?...Plus IPad 2 coming March 2nd

Rumored that new Macbook Pros containing Intel's Sandybridge Processor to be unveiled Thursday the 24th, which just happens to be the Steve Jobs 56th birthday. Sandybridge Processors have been in somewhat of a line of fire with problems Intel has admitted to chipset failure affecting Sata ports 2-5, decreased speed performance. Though if you were thinking of springing for a new Macbook Pro I would hold out a little longer just to see if the rumors are true. Also Apple has sent out invitations for an event on March the 2nd, in which the IPad 2 will mostly likely be announced. For all those who waited, the time has come, and the iPad 2 would be my recommendation for a new tablet.

HP Touchpad, HP Pre 3 & HP Veer

HP announced their answer to the Ipad called the HP Touchpad. A 9.7inch (1024x768 resolution) display with dual 1.2Ghz Snapdragon processors, 802.11b/g/n Wifi and front facing 1.3mega pixel camera. All that you would expect from a tablet today. If not the most interesting feature is the WebOs operating system that HP acquired from Palm. True multitasking and touch to share, allowing to share data with the HP Pre 3 among other features will be included in the WiFi version which will be released first with 3g/4g versions to follow soon after.

The HP Pre 3 also announced today has a 3.6inch display, 5mp camera with AF and LED flash. Allows for 720p video recording and runs on a Qualcomm MSM 8x55 1.4GHz processor. 512mb of ram, also this is a world phone capable of running HSPA+ and EVDO Rev A! The HP Veer has a 2.6inch display along with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7230 processor running at 800mhz. This is not a world phone but is a suitable choice for those who wish to carry light. The Veer is equipped with a 5Megapixel EDoF camera. If not the coolest feature is the ability to share information like taking calls on the tablet once you touch both the phones and the tablet together, also your are able to share Urls between devices. The Pre 3 will have an availability of summer with pricing to be announced.

CR48 Google Chrome Notebook (unboxing)

Months after applying for the Google Chrome OS Pilot Program, I received the CR48 test notebook which is only available to participants of the beta program. Users of the notebooks are asked to provide feedback on any issues experienced while using the unit. Made solely for those who live in the cloud, all applications are web based. The CR48 will not be sold to the public but is merely a tool for the upcoming Chrome OS project. Which will bring cloud based notebooks to the market in order to give users a more portable solution. As you can see in the video above, the box had what looks to be a smiley face on the front...Also on the back of the battery you see the word Mario, which is exactly what the smiley face reminded me of,  the little cloud in Super Mario Bros. On the net, the model of the CR48 include Mario Fish & Mario Pony. Couldn't help but to notice that. Look forward to seeing more of the Chrome OS in the future.

Android Honeycomb 3.0 Demo

The first look at the Honeycomb video leaked at CES left many questions for those who viewed it. The CES video can be found here in earlier posts. Today Google's performed a live demo of the new tablet OS running on the upcoming Motorola Xoom tablet which will be coming to Verizon at the end of the first quarter. The OS featured a more custom built interface specially designed for tablets, including application widgets and integrations. Other companies like Toshiba and High Tech Computer (HTC) Corp will also be debuting their tablet devices that will run Honeycomb 3.0 in the near future. A hands on video of the Xoom tablet can be found here courtesy of Cnet.

Also mentioned at the announcement was the launch of the Android Market site, of which users can browse and purchase applications from the Android Marketplace via their desktop browser and in turn wirelessly sending it to their Android smartphones (very slick). This is especially nice when browsing for apps on a desktop which has more screen real estate than a 4in smartphone. The site is live now at

Also if your into art be sure to check out Google's Art Project which gives you the capability to view hi-res art from some of the most famous museums in the world. Take the virtual tour here.

iPhone comes to Verizon

Mark 1/11/11 as the day the IPhone stepped into the Verizon realm. Maybe Apple planned this very day just because of the uniformity of the date...The iPhone 4 will become available to new customers on Feb 10 with current Verizon customers getting a 7 day head start on preorder. I have been asked if now is a good time to get the iPhone 4? My answer to those who have waited patiently is if you cannot wait 5 more months until the IPhone 5 is revealed then go ahead and get the IPhone 4 on Verizon. If you are a AT&T customer (like me) and are thinking of switching, just consider if it is more important to switch if you are under contract and jump to Verizon. Also, being that Verizon is using CDMA technology, you will have to choose wether to take a call or use the data connection, you cannot do both like on AT&T. But if you know the Verizon signal is better in the area you reside then why not switch over, if the iPhone 5 does come out in June/July then you can always sell the IPhone 4 for a pretty good amount of money. In most cases it will even cover most of the new phone purchase. One feature mentioned in the announcement is the capability of the Verizon IPhone to act as a mobile hotspot, allowing up to five Wi-Fi connections. All in all fans who have been waiting will rejoice with such news.

Tvs' are getting smarter. (CES)

All tablets aside, the Consumers Electronics Show has shown us many new products that wish to make the market. The above LG 3DTV set features LG's Apps, which is their proprietary Smart Tv software for their new line of tvs'. This is just one example of where HDTV's are going in the future. The need for a set top box will be minimized as tv manufacturers get better at supplying these enhanced functions. Basically if you wanted to just have a smart tv connected to an internet connection, you would be able to watch Netflix, Vudu, Youtube and even play games or browse the internet in with specific models (all without the cable box). Cameras are also being added in order to provide use with Skype and other video conferencing software. All the major manufacturers including Samsung, Sony, Panasonic, Vizio and Sharp are deploying their own type of Smart Tv implementation. More intuitive ways of controlling the tv are also emerging, the above model has a remote similar to the Nintendo Wii remote, of which you can point to the tv in order to make a selection. 3D is another trend that manufacturers are pushing (not a fan of 3D myself) But, if you just consider it as another feature that is included then I guess its not so bad. I would not buy a tv simply because of the 3D feature anyway. The fact tvs' are becoming more and more like computers is exciting but with this evolution also comes room for error. But in it's maturity this will definitely change the way we think of televisions.
